Collection: Masako Nakaï

While studying at the high school affiliated with the Tokyo University of the Arts (formerly: Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music), Masako Nakaï went to study at Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris, from which she graduated with 1st prize honors. Having been accepted into the 3rd cycle, she won 3rd prize in the Geneva International Music Competition 1980, and a special prize for a performance of French music at the Long-Thibaud International Music Competition 1981. Masako Nakaï has given recitals in Paris, Lyon and Warsaw, as well as frequent appearances with top Japanese orchestras. She gives many concerts and seminars and appears many times in the TV, and Radio-Programs. Ms. Nakaï also had been teaching at the Tokyo University of the Arts for over 20 years.
Masako Nakaï is engaged in editing the works of many composers such as Debussy, Ravel, Chopin, J. S. Bach and Hanon. Her memoir, “The Aroma of Paris, the Piano of Dreams” has been published by the Chopin Publishing Company and she has also published “Debussy à Paris” and “A Performance Guide to Debussy’s Complete Piano Works” from Artes Publishing.
