Nina Fujisawa, highly acclaimed both in Japan and internationally presents her long-awaited second solo album, released five years after her debut. Centered on Bach’s Partita No. 2 for Solo Violin, with its monumental Chaconne, the program also features two commissioned works written especially for Fujisawa by Emmanuel Séjourné and Hisayuki Yamashita, as well as Takatsugu Muramatsu’s Land, a work beloved by performers around the world. Each delicate stroke precisely carves the musical form, while the soft, luminous resonance—suggestive of flickering light—fills the space with an immediate and compelling presence. Lyric Pieces, while taking the Romantic salon tradition as its point of departure, occupies a distinctive place at the turning point of music history from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century, combining an intimate character with elements of innovation through its use of folk-inspired expression and harmonic experimentation. Shakespeare, Poe, and the Brownings—this song collection brings together the rich language of English poetry, crystallized through the sensitive musical voice of the composer Akane Nakanishi. It unfolds the fairy-lit fantasy of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Poe’s world in which the tolling of bells mirrors the course of human life, the unaccompanied Annabel Lee, which strips sound back to the very core of words, and Weep you no more, gently embracing loss and renewal. Completing the program is My Star, where poems of love intersect and resonate. Centered on tenor Hirohisa Tsuji, and set within an intimate soundscape woven by piano and guitar, poetry and music merge as one, drawing the listener ever deeper into the heart of each narrative.
