Yoshio Watanabe, recipient of the 66th Mainichi Art Award, delivers a masterful interpretation of Bach's rarely recorded Toccatas!
Highly acclaimed for his June 2024 recital of J.S. Bach: The Seven Toccatas, Yoshio Watanabe was awarded the 66th (2024) Mainichi Art Award. This session recording was made immediately following the recital. His liner notes, based on a bold hypothesis that the works "ingeniously depict the essence and characteristics of the Sun, Moon, and the five planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn)," are also a must-read.
